Application for funding Silloth Airfield Project

Application for funding Silloth Airfield Project

We are writing an application on behalf of Silloth Tourism Action Group (STAG) for funding a project about Silloth Airfield during WW2. Heritage Lottery are asking for images illustrating Silloth, the airfield, service men/women maybe with locals during the war…anything related to the theme (images to be sent with application for funds).

Does anyone have any images in digital format or that we can scan? Also if you have any information or a story to tell about war time experiences related to Silloth Airfield, the airmen based in the town or the effect it has had on Silloth over time, please get in touch. It would be great to record your stories if willing. Anyone able to help organise material more than welcome to get involved. Video making/editing training is being organised … for February hopefully… plus briefing on the project, so we should all know what we’re doing. If you’re interested in doing the training (it’s free) and taking part in making a video let me know? We’re also hoping to put on an event on the Green (maybe including a drama production) and maybe organising a mini museum to hold artefacts gathered. Anyone willing to help with this, please let us know. Besides the Airfield video, we’re also hoping to make a promotional video about the Green, heritage past up to the present, covering what it means to/for the town and describing people’s experiences, also illustrating all the events as well as showing off the new renovations/features. Both videos will be great for raising Silloth’s profile and for use in promoting the town and bringing in more visitors. Let me know and we can have a chat about it in the Community Hall (or somewhere more convenient if better). anna.malina@silloth-on-solway.co.uk … or message me via Facebook
