Theatre on the Green ‘The Tempest’

Professional theatre company Rain or Shine, hailed by ‘The Stage’ as “one of the best companies touring open air theatre” are again set to delight family audiences on the Green with their production of The Bard’s magical and mysterious masterpiece.

Shakespeare’s The Tempest is a tale that encompasses comic capers, romantic encounters, villainous plots and a host of apparitions and spirits, where a fantastic web of intrigue is woven.

Washed up on an unknown isle after a tempestuous storm at sea, survivors of a shipwreck are amazed to find themselves alive, without injury and wearing clothes that are dry and clean! For this is no ordinary isle. It is one ruled by a sorcerer who can control the elements, control minds and conjure up spirits at will. Welcome to Prospero’s island, a place where much is not as it seems and long held secrets will be revealed…

Please note no tickets required. This is a ‘free of charge’ performance on The Green, Silloth on Solway, on Sunday 26th July at 3.00pm.

Audiences are invited to bring along low-backed seating or rugs, and a picnic to maximise their enjoyment of the al fresco performance.

The theatre company travel across the UK from Alderney to Northumberland, and Wales to Norfolk, visiting some of the country’s most picturesque castles, stately homes and gardens.
