Tour of Britain Silloth, 8 September 2015
Article By Sarah Betsworth.
Silloth with its award-winning Green, wide streets and beautiful location on the Solway Firth will welcome visitors from around the world to watch as riders from the Tour of Britain 2015 race over the historic setts on September 8th.
At a meeting organised jointly by Silloth Rotary and Inner Wheel clubs, a packed room listened to a presentation about the forthcoming Stage 3 of the Tour of Britain which passes through Silloth on September 8th. At the meeting on 23rd July people from all sections of the community heard about plans for activities on the day at Silloth.
The town has already demonstrated its commitment to maximising the benefit to be derived from this exciting event, with plans including a marquee on the green showing televised coverage of the race on a big screen, activities for the children and decorating the town with our distinctive Ralph the Sheep motif.
Further ideas came out of the meeting, and additional volunteers offered to help in various capacities, but we still want to involve more people. The whole community, from schoolchildren to pensioners, is coming together to make this event a success.
Up to date information about plans for the day can be found at the Tour of Britain Silloth website and you can follow us on social media – and Twitter page
