Volunteers on Silloth Green
The Maintenance Team already do a great job on maintaining Silloth Green. Volunteering to supplement that work can make a real difference to the Green, the local community who use the Green, visitors who come to enjoy the Green and local traders who benefit from increased visitor numbers.
Several members of Friends of the Green rolled up their sleeves prior to Silloth Green day in May, and got stuck into some weeding, as well as deep cleaning and painting the Criffle Street toilets inside and out.
More recently, youngsters who have been campaigning for a BMX track were led by Diane and Stuart Graham on 2nd July to do a spot of weeding around the Rose Graden.
Not at all to be outdone, Solway Community Technology College Year 9 pupils came out on the Green a week later armed with their long handled litter pickers; then a few dyas after that, an army of 40 schoolchildren volunteered to help with some more tidying.
Silloth should be justifiably proud of its Maintenance Team, led by Ken Wannop, and all the volunteers who help out when they can.
