Learn about Bee and Bug Hotels

According to Friends Of the Earth (FOE)

“Our bees are facing unprecedented crisis and have lost much of their natural habitat in the past 60years, including 97% of wildflower-rich meadows) and are under assault from pesticides and intensive farming. But by creating bee friendly spaces where we live, we can start to replace and restore some of this lost habitat and help Britain bloom for bees.”

FOE have provided a guide to “building a bee & bee,” in other words “a bee hotel with a comfy bed, nutritious breakfast and a refreshing water supply.”

In addition, FOE provide information about starting a bee world

The RSPB also indicate that “Insects will use man-made structures in which to lay eggs, or to hibernate in through the winter either as an adult or larvae. These range from woodpiles, garden canes and furniture to holes in brickwork and garden sheds”
